7.C. People Allowed In the Polling Room

7.C.4. Election Authority Representatives In The Polling Place Who Are Not Observers

Election Authority representatives may enter the Polling Place to perform official duties that require their presence.

Upon entering the Polling Place, they must present official identification to an Election Judge.

Once the purpose of their visit is complete, they must leave the Polling Place.

7.C.4.a. Dropping Off Election Material

The Election Authority can deliver election material to the Polling Place.

7.C.4.b. Technical Services

Upon the request of one or more Election Judges, a specially trained technician may be dispatched to the Polling Place to assist the Election Judges.

Verify that the Election Authority technician presents official identification to the Election Judge upon entering the Polling Place.

If any voting machine being used in an election or primary shall become out of order during such election or primary, it shall, if possible, be repaired or another machine substituted by the custodian or election authority,

10 ILCS 5/24-11

The election authority shall preserve and keep the voting machine or voting machines in repair, and shall have the custody thereof, and of the furniture and equipment of the polling place when not in use at an election. No person shall be employed or allowed to perform any mechanical services in connection with any voting machine which is used or to be used at any election or primary in which such person is a candidate.
