Chapter 5 — In–Person, In–Precinct Voting
A. Before the Polls Open
7. A List of Election Judges
- All election judges are required to wear "a suitable badge or label" which includes the following information:
- The date of election.
- The name of the election judge.
- The ward, township or road district and precinct number in which the election judge is serving.
Before the polls open, ask each judge for their name and party affiliation. Write down their answers.
Some election judges will balk at providing that information.
Explain that there are situations where election judges of different parties are required and that it is better to ask ahead of time rather in the middle of a situation.
If the election judge refuses, that's fine. Be polite.
The next thing you do is to request the Election Judge Sign–In Sheet, and confirm each election judge's name and party affiliation.
Text the list to your poll watcher team.
