Chapter 4 — Election Day.
4.A. Before the Polls Open
4.A.4. Examine All the Electronic Voting Equipment.
4.A.4.b. Ballot Marking Devices.
Ballot marking devices (BMD) and electronically-assisted ballot markers (EBM) are those devices used to assist voters in filling out a ballot.
BMDs and EBMs do not receive the same level of scrutiny as ballot boxes, tabulators, or voting machines because BMDs do not store or tabulate votes. BMDs only assist a voter in filling out a ballot.
The most common feature of a BMD is that it will magnify the ballot for the voter.

Check to see that the BMD is easily accessible but the screen cannot be seen elsewhere in the Polling Place. A voter using a BMD should have the same privacy as a voter in a voting booth.
Also, check that the glare from a nearby window does not obstruct the screen. Or that the screen cannot be read outside the polling place through a nearby window.
