5.F.7. Documentation Needed To Register to Vote At Office of the Election Authority
A poll watcher probably will not be at the office of Election Authority for voter registration unless there is a Voter Registration Event.
Even at the office of the Election Authority, two documents are required.
- 1. A document that establishes the registrant's identity.
- 2. A document that establishes the registrant's current address.
What the Poll Watcher Is Looking For.
Poll watchers should know these additional state supported registration documents.
This documentation can be used during Grace Period Registration in a Polling Place at the discretion of the Election Judge.
Sufficient proof of identity shall be demonstrated by submission of:
- the person's driver's license number or
- State identification card number or,
if the person does not have either of those,
- verification by the last 4 (four) digits of the person's social security number,
- a copy of a current and valid photo identification, or
- a copy of a current:
- utility bill,
- bank statement,
- paycheck,
- government check, or
- other federal, State, or local government document that shows the registrant's name and address.
5.F.7.a. College and University Students Registering at the Office of the Election Authority
In addition, there is a separate documentation option for university or college students.
- A photo identification issued by a college or university
- Accompanied by either
- a copy of the applicant's contract or lease for a residence or
- any postmarked mail delivered to the registrant at the registrant's current residence address.
