5.F.9. Documenting A Credit Card at Registration

Using a credit card as identification during Grace Period Registration has it's own security problem.

When filling out the the registration forms, the Election Judge is documenting driver's license numbers, state ID numbers, Social Security numbers, etc. Their mind is set on recording identification numbers.

Documenting a credit card is different.

The credit card number is NOT recorded.

The organization that issued the credit card is recorded (i.e., VISA, Discover, a department store, etc.).

Recording the credit card number may be considered vote buying or identify theft and may be considered illegal.
