3.C. Who Can Vote?
Every citizen of the United States who is a resident of the jurisdiction in which they are voting and is eighteen (18) or more years on or by Election Day is entitled to vote for all offices and on all propositions.
The requirements to register to vote in Illinois are that the voter must be:
- 1. A citizen of the United States,
- 2. Eighteen (18) years of age on or by Election Day,
- 3. A resident of Illinois thirty (30) days prior to the election.
In addition, the State also places requirements on residing within a election district during the thirty (30) days prior to an election, but the State also allows change of address during the grace period.
