Chapter 03 — Registering To Vote.

3.A. Grace Period Registration.

We will begin with Grace Period registration, since that is what a poll watcher is most likely to see.

3.A.1. What Is A Grace Period?

During the Grace Period, a person can register to vote or change their registration address in-person, at either an early voting polling place or, on Election Day, at their precinct polling place.

"Same day registration" at the polling place is Grace Period registration.

3.A.2. When Is The Grace Period?

The Grace Period begins, in-person:

  • Beginning twenty-seven (27) days before Election Day (Wednesday, October 9, 2024) through Election Day (Tuesday, November 5, 2024)
    • The office of the Election Authority (i.e., County Clerk or local Election Board).
    • A voter registration location specifically designated for this purpose by the election authority.
  • An Early Voting site, beginning fifteen (15) days before Election Day (Monday, October 21, 2024), through the end of Early Voting.
  • At polling place on Election Day (Tuesday, November 5, 2024).

The person registering or changing registration must be able to produce the required documentation.
