3.E.1. Forms of Registration Documentation That Cannot Be Challenged
While individual documentation which is lacking information (such as a bank statement that does not show the address when used as proof of current address) can be challenged, these categories of documentation cannot be challenged because they are listed in the statutes.
Establish Voter's Identity
Establish Voter's Current Address
Illinois Driver's License
A copy of a current utility bill
Illinois State ID
A copy of a current bank statement.
Social Security card
A copy of a current paycheck.
Public Aid (SNAP) Identification card.
A copy of a current government check.
Employee or Student Identification card.
Other federal, State, or local government document that shows the person's name and address.
Credit Card.
A Lease or a Contract for a residence.
A civic, union or professional association membership card.

A list of acceptable IDs is listed on the online voter registration form.
Election Judges should offer this information to the person registering to vote and not leave that person to guess what is acceptable documentation.

Online documentation such as bank statements and utility bills can also be presented.
