2.D. Who Are The People In the Polling Place?
2.D.1. The Voter.
The voter is allowed in the Polling Room.
People who may accompany the voter into the Polling Room and to the voting booth are:
- A person assisting the voter. this link opens in a new browser tab..
- Children. this link opens in a new browser tab..
Friends of the voter who are not themselves voting, are not allowed to accompany the voter and may wait outside of the Polling Room. Likewise, the voter's ride to the Polling Place may wait for the voter outside of the Polling Room.
Parents & spouses, especially like to linger in the Polling Room. The poll watcher can point it out to an Election Judge or pose a challenge. The poll watcher does not confront a person waiting in the Polling Room, it is reported to an Election Judge.
As stated before:
- If paper ballots are used in the Polling Place, only two (2) voters with ballots may be allowed to wait for a voting booth at any one time.
- If voting machines are used to vote in the Polling Place, the maximum number of voters allowed to wait in the Polling Room for a voting machine is equal to the number of voting machines in the Polling Place.
